Has Science Explained Life After Death?

Has Science Explained Life After Death?
by Josh Clark
source;howstuffworks.com

In 1991, Atlanta, Ga. resident Pam Reynolds had a near-death experience (NDE). Reynolds underwent surgery for a brain aneurysm, and the procedure required doctors to drain all the blood from her brain. Reynolds was kept literally brain-dead by the surgical team for a full 45 minutes. Despite being clinically dead, when Reynolds was resuscitated, she described some amazing things. She recounted experiences she had while dead -- like interacting with deceased relatives. Even more amazing is that Reynolds was able to describe aspects of the surgical procedure, down to the bone saw that was used to remove part of her skull [source: Parker].

It is estimated that as many as 18 percent of people who have been resuscitated after cardiac arrest have reported a near-death experience.

What's remarkable (althoug...

Pastor-in-training surrenders after beating autistic boy

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Paoli, Ind., man Wednesday afternoon on felony charges of battery and confinement after he performed an “exorcism” on a 14-year-old autistic boy over the course of 11 hours, police said.

Sheriff’s Department Det. Brad Swain said Edward F. Uyesugi, 22, turned himself into police at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday.

Witnesses told police Uyesugi had said he punched the boy in the face 20 times and stuck his fingers down the boy’s throat in an attempt to “cast out the demons” in him, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Uyesugi was a pastor-in-training at Cherry Hill Ministries, 417 E. 16th St., the affidavit said.

According to a press release Cherry Hill Ministries issued ...

SHC - "lightning discharge" hypothesis

Mon Jan 21, 2008 5:33 pm by Derek-FCPS

Jay Alfred: Plasma metaphysics' "lightning discharge" hypothesis, proposed in this author's article Is SHC caused by Electrical Discharges? published on March 26, 2007 on this website, has received further support from recent research. In the article, Jay Alfred proposed that spontaneous human combustion is caused by electrical discharges, similar to lightning discharges, within the body. The article states, "A bolt of lightning is an electrical discharge within this system. According to plasma metaphysics, the same phenomenon that occurs in space and on Earth can occur within our subtle bodies... The energies of our subtle (high energy) magma bodies far exceed anything the biomolecular body can withstand. " In December 2007 researchers at the University of Michigan discovered, to their surprise, "electric fields inside cells as strong as those produced in lightning bolts". However, "scientists are not clear as to what causes these strong fields or wh...

Is Time Literally Slowing Down and Disappearing From the Universe?

Mon Jan 21, 2008 7:09 am by Derek-FCPS

Remember a little thing called the space-time continuum? Well what if the time part of the equation was literally running out? New evidence is suggesting that time is slowly disappearing from our universe, and will one day vanish completely. This radical new theory may explain a cosmological mystery that has baffled scientists for years.

Scientists previously have measured the light from distant exploding stars to show that the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate. They assumed that these supernovae are spreading apart faster as the universe ages. Physicists also assumed that a kind of anti-gravitational force must be driving the galaxies apart, and started to call this unidentified force "dark energy".

However, to this day no one actually knows what dark energy is, or where it comes from. Professor Jose Senovilla, and his colleagues at the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao, Spain, have proposed a mind-bending alternative. They...

Human evolution is ’speeding up’

Human evolution is ’speeding up’

Human evolution is ’speeding up’
By Anna-Marie Lever
Science and nature reporter, BBC News

Is human evolution speeding up?
Humans have moved into the evolutionary fast lane and are becoming increasingly different, a genetic study suggests.

In the past 5,000 years, genetic change has occurred at a rate roughly 100 times higher than any other period, say scientists in the US.

This is in contrast with the widely-held belief that recent human evolution has halted.

The research has been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).

Professor Henry Harpending, an author of the study from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, US, said: “The dogma has been these [differences] are cultural fluctuations, but almost any temperament trait you look at is under strong genetic influences.

Blog Entry 6/14/07: Demonology: The 21st Century and You
Thursday, June 14, 2007

With a resurgence of cinematic demonic plot lines, not seen since the days of ‘The Exorcist’… the 21st Century seems renewed with a belief in demons. Demon (or Daemon) is commonly depicted as a supernatural being that has generally been described as a malevolent spirit, and in Christian terms it generally understood as an angel not following God.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demon) The word daemon in Greek can also refer to a secondary divinity with God. Which brings me to this point, if belief in demonology is becoming a more and more common facet of the american sub-culture, is that only because theology has laid the groundwork? For to have belief in demons (on an ethereal level) would mean to hold belief in one or more Gods or Goddesses. Wherein does any factual or semi-factual information lie with this topic of discussion? I know that is a hard line to ...
